Trunk O' Treat! Members of the Women's Water Polo team participated in a special Halloween activity for kids Costa Mesa. This event provided a safe Trick O' Treating experience for kids in the Mesa Verde neighborhood.

Red Ribbon Week at Bathgate Elementary. David Smith, Matt Webber and Kevin Wynne from the Men's Volleyball team visited students at Bathgate Elementary School in Mission Viejo. The athletes promoted the goals of leading a drug-free lifestyle.

The Men's Soccer team and Major League Soccer Columbus Crew hosted a youth soccer clinic. Kids got the chance to receive high level soccer training.

Chris Klotz, member of the Men's Soccer team, and Peter the Anteater visited Paularino School in Costa Mesa. Chris demonstrated the Rip'Em Eater hand sign. Chris shared his personal experiences of playing college soccer.

Spreading sunshine to seniors. Members of the Women's Basketball team made Valentine's to be donated to the Mesa Verde Convalescent Hospital in Costa Mesa.

Jessica Wu of the Women's Soccer team read to a 1st grade classroom at Beswick Elementary School in Tustin in celebration of National Read Across America.

January 29, 2006

UC Irvine Athletics hosted a girls sports clinic in celebration of the national Girls and Women in Sports Day. Female student-athletes ran clinics in volleyball, basketball, track and soccer. Girls had the opportunity to learn a new sport and listened to student-athletes share their experiences on how sports has enriched their lives. New Balance generously donated t-shirts for all the participants. Next year, the clinic hopes to offer more sports.

January 28, 2006

Members of the Men's Soccer and Women's Volleyball teams volunteered at the Someone Cares Soup Kitchen in Costa Mesa. The volunteers served food to families in need and helped to prepare the dining room to serve 300 meals that morning.
