Randall Tom Wins Silver Medal at Short Course World ChampionshipsApril 15, 2008
MANCHESTER, England - Senior Randall Tom won a silver medal at the Short Course World Championships as a member of the United States 400 Medley Relay team. The United States 400 medley relay team finished second in the event with a time of 3:24.38 just 0.09 seconds behind Russia's world-record setting time of 3:24.29. Tom did not compete in the finals, but swam in prelims to help qualify the team for the finals. As an individual, Randall Tom had the second fastest time in prelims in the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 51.45, then placed 11th in the semifinals with a time of 51.69. He finished 14th in the 200 meter butterfly with a time of 1:55.86. Tom finished 22nd in the prelims of the 50 meter butterfly with a time of 23.91. |
