Kyle Peterson Finishes 4th in Big West DecathlonMay 10, 2008
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- UC Irvine junior Kyle Peterson finished fourth in the decathlon at the Big West Conference Multi-Event Championships that concluded Saturday at Cal State Northridge's Matador Track Complex. Peterson finished with a total of 6,387 points over the two days of competition. UCI's Trent Richert placed sixth with 6,241 points and Eric Nyberg was eighth with 6,111. Long Beach State's Chris Richardson won the decathlon with 7,461 points. Peterson's marks Saturday were 17.13 in the 110-meter hurdles, 109-10 in the discus throw, 14-9 in the pole vault, 152-0 in the javelin throw and 5:02.06 in the 1500 meters. Richert posted marks of 17.31 in the 110 hurdles, 110-6 in the discus throw, 12-9 ½ in the pole vault, 157-9 in the javelin throw and 5:04.82 in the 1500. Nyberg's marks were 16.90 in the 110 hurdles, 104-10 in the discus throw, 15-1 in the pole vault, 186-1 in the javelin throw and 5:33.04 in the 1500. The Big West Conference Track & Field Championships are Friday and Saturday at Northridge.
