UCI Women 14th, Men 20th at NCAA West RegionalNov. 10, 2007
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. --- The UC Irvine women's cross country team finished 14th and the men's squad placed 20th Saturday at the NCAA West Regional Championships in Springfield, Ore. The Anteater women's team totaled 382 points as Stanford won the title with 33. Teresa McWalters of Stanford won the 6,000-meter race with a time of 19:57.30 at the Springfield Country Club. UCI's Candice Proctor finished 26th in 21:08.90, Laura Olvera was 43rd (21:30.50) and Sara Mickelson 71st (21:54.20). Rounding out the seven runners for UCI were Samantha Costantini in 119th place (22:37.70), Katherine Nielsen 127th (22:44.70), Lauren Chramosta 161st (23:22.60) and Amber Gordon 163rd (23:24.70). The Anteater men's team finished with 529 points as Oregon won the title with 47. The Ducks' Galen Rupp was the individual champion with a time of 29:35.45 over 10,000 meters. Nick Mosey led UCI with a 60th-place finish of 31:42.10, followed by Sky Johnston in 90th (32:27.45), Colin Hacker 116th (33:06.40) and Rusty Whisman 144th (34:02.00). George Morris placed 145th (34:03.10), Victor Bonilla 162nd (34:52.05) and Adrian Doty 163rd (34:54.80). |
