IRVINE, Calif. --- Pitcher Scott Gorgen became UCI's all-time strikeout leader en route to his 10th win (10-2) of the season as the Anteaters defeated Pacific 9-1 Friday in a Big West Conference game at Anteater Ballpark. The Anteaters improved to 32-12 overall and 9-7 in conference action while the Tigers fell to 10-36 (2-17) overall.

Gorgen struck out nine and held Pacific to an unearned run on two hits in eight innings as he surpassed former Anteater Glenn Swanson's strikeout total of 298, recorded from 2002-06. The junior All-America collected his 30th career victory to tie for third in the career annals and also tied for fourth with his 48th career start.

Pacific scored its lone run on a passed ball in the first, but the Anteaters responded with four in the bottom of the frame. Ben Orloff singled in Ollie Linton to tie the game and Dillon Bell doubled in a pair of runs, plating Orloff and Francis Larson. A single by Josh Tavelli drove in Bell to cap the scoring in the inning.

Larson delivered an RBI single in the second and Casey Stevenson drove in Bell with a hit to right in the bottom of the third as UCI took a 6-1 lead.

UCI added three in the eighth, capitalizing on a Pacific error and pushing across two runs on RBI hits from Eric Deragisch and Sean Madigan.

Bell led UCI, batting 2 for 5 with two RBI while six Anteaters each drove in a run. Orloff and Larson had two hits apiece in the winning effort.

Anteater reliever Kyle Necke pitched a scoreless ninth to end the game.

Pacific starter Joey Centanni fell to 0-4 after giving up six runs (two earned) on seven hits in five innings of work.
