Dillon Bell Named Easton Big West Player of the WeekMay 12, 2008
IRVINE, Calif. --- Dillon Bell was named Easton Big West Player of the Week after batting .500 (9 for 18) with five RBI to lead UC Irvine to a 3-1 record last week. Tuesday, the sophomore was 2 for 4 and drove in what would be the eventual game-winning run in a midweek win over UC Riverside. In the series opener Friday against Pacific, Bell's two-run double capped a four-run first inning for the Anteaters to highlight a 2-for-5, two RBI performance. Saturday, the outfielder had a personal-high four hits as he singled and drove in a run in the team's four-run seventh and singled and scored in the five-run ninth to help the Anteaters erase an initial eight-run deficit. Sunday, Bell recorded his 35th hit in 33 games played with a single. This is the first honor for Bell, who tops the team with a .372 average and is hitting .419 in Big West games. |
