UC Irvine Novice Men Win Season Opener

The UC Irvine novice men beat Loyola Marymount to win their season opener on March 2nd.

Newport, Calif.- The UC Irvine men began their racing season with the Parker Cup on March 2, 2008. The novice men's 8 had a shaky start to their first race but pulled ahead of Loyola Marymount and crossed the finish line of the 2,000 meter race 5 seconds ahead. The varsity men lead most of the race but were unable to keep the lead when LMU took an early sprint. Irvine's varsity men ended the race 2 seconds behind LMU and 31 seconds ahead of San Diego State. Both of the varsity fours raced good races placing 2nd and 3rd between LMU and San Diego State. The novices raced 2 fours against San Diego State placing 2nd and 3rd.
