Irvine Men Raced in 43rd Annual Newport Regatta

The schools in the Newport Regatta were Orange Coast College, UCLA, UCSD, Universtiy of San Diego, and UC Irvine

Newport, Calif.--The Irvine men raced in the 43rd Annual Newport Regatta hosted by Orange Coast College on April 19, 2008. The men raced hard against the top schools in their association. The novice men placed 4th out of 5 crews, sprinting through UCLA in the last 300 meters. In the last meeting between these two novice crews UCLA beat UC Irvine by 3 seconds. The varsity men placed 5th with a time of 6:21.85. In the men's 2nd varsity 8 race Irvine placed 5th with a time of 6:23.14.

The men's next race is the WIRA Championships on Lake Natoma in Sacramento on May 3rd and 4th.
