No. 64 Anteaters Tie for Third at Big West Championship
Victor Lamm awaits potential NCAA singles bid

NO. 64 ANTEATERS AT BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP: The No. 64 UC Irvine men's tennis team (11-14, 4-1) lost 4-3 to Pacific in the semifinals of the Big West Championship at Indian Wells Tennis Garden. UCI finished the tournament tied for third.
LAMM AWAITS POTENTIAL BID: Senior Victor Lamm (Paris, France) awaits a potential bid to the NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Championship in College Station, Texas. Lamm is currently ranked 123rd nationally and is the highest ranked player in the Big West. The NCAA gives an automatic qualifier to any conference with at least one player ranked in the ITA Top 125. Selections for the NCAA Singles Championship will be announced Wednesday.
BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP REVIEW: The Anteaters lost 4-3 in the semifinals against Pacific. Victor Lamm, freshman Ryan Mayer (Yorba Linda/Esperanza HS) and freshman Stephen Stege (Los Gatos HS) each won in singles for UCI.
Victor Lamm RANKED 123rd IN NATION: Senior Victor Lamm is ranked 123rd in the nation and is ranked 30th in the West Region by the ITA. Lamm finished the 2006-07 season with a 15-17 record and was named All-Big West second team. Lamm has been named Big West Player of the Week three times this season.
ANTEATER LEADERS: Senior Victor Lamm leads the team with a 16-8 record. Freshman Khunpol Issara is second in dual matches with a 13-11 record on the year. The doubles team of Alex Sundling and Zac Tsai is 5-1 in dual matches to lead the team.
HEAD COACH Trevor Kronemann: Head coach Trevor Kronemann is in his second season leading the Anteaters. In his first season at UCI, Kronemann led UCI to a 11-12 record overall while seven Anteaters earned All-Big West honors. Kronemann is a 1990 graduate of UC Irvine where he was named an All-American in each of his four seasons.
