Day Three Quotes - Pepperdine

May 2, 2008

Head Coach - Marv Dunphy:
"We are happy to play for a championship, that is the good part of it. The bad part of it is that we don't know Penn State that well. We have a long day and a long night ahead of us to get ready for them. I think I said last night that Penn State is the best team from the east and midwest ever. They are going to be a handful, obviously their record shows that. They are pretty darn good."

"We have just gotten a little better over time. I think the three guys up are pretty responsible for it. We have been receiving serves well lately. I don't think there is any one thing."

"It is an honor to play well on the road. At Pepperdine we know our current facility is a great place to play but we can't host a NCAA Championship. Preparation starts early on and I think there are a lot of reasons to play on the road."

Regarding PSU Matt Anderson
"He is fabulous. With any good player you are not going to stop him but you can slow him down. Hopefully we will be able to slow him down."

JD Schleppenbach:
"Last year was a little disappointing, but I think the main motivation is the excitement of it all. Just being here is fun and there is a little taste of redemption."

"Reality is that we haven't played, but we obviously know they are a really good team."

Jonathan Winder:
"We have some really good players and we are going to spread it around if we need to or we can go to one person. We will do whatever it takes to win."

"We lost our last match of the (regular) season to Hawaii and then we got together and said we can start over now and start from scratch in the postseason and take it one game at a time. We have been able to stay within ourselves and believe our talent is good enough to win."

Sean Grubbs:
Regarding a possible favoring crowd in championship game "It will be cool to have our crowd with us, but it doesn't really matter what crowd is there for what team. It's just nice to be playing in a crowd like that with all the noise to matter which fans it is coming from."
