Tim Hutten Named Lauds & Laurels Outstanding Athlete

Senior led nation in scoring average

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine senior Tim Hutten has been named recipient of the 2008 Lauds & Laurels Outstanding Athlete Award.

He and 17 others will receive the UCI Alumni Association's highest honor, joining 600 previous recipients. The 2008 Lauds & Laurels awards ceremony is scheduled for May 8 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine.

Hutten was a first-team All-America and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Year this season. He scored 75 goals and led the nation and MPSF with a 3.75 scoring average.

He is one of three finalists for the prestigious Peter J. Cutino Award that is given annually to the outstanding collegiate player in the nation.

Hutten, a political science major, is a top candidate for a spot on the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team.
