NO. 2 STANFORD BEATS NO. 16 UC SAN DIEGO 11-3

IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 2 Stanford Cardinal defeated No. 16 UC San Diego 11-3 in the opening round of the UC Irvine Women's Water Polo Invitational Saturday at Anteater Aquatics Complex.

Jacquelyn Gauthier led the Cardinal with three goals in the match. Megan May and Kelsey Holshouser each had two goals for Stanford.

The Cardinal will next play in the quarterfinals at 2:00 p.m. while UCSD will move into the consolation bracket and will play at 3:15 Saturday.
