NO. 3 USC DEFEATS NO. 15 MICHIGAN 15-7

IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 3 USC Women of Troy defeated the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines 15-7 in the opening round of the UC Irvine Women's Water Polo Invitational Saturday at Anteater Aquatics Complex.

Michigan tied the match at 6-6 with 5:54 left in the second period. USC then scored five unanswered goals to pull away for the win. Michelle Stein led all scorers with five goals for the women of Troy.

The Women of Troy will play in the quarterfinals at 4:30 p.m. while Michigan will move into the consolation bracket and will play at 5:45 Saturday.

USC - 5 - 4 - 3 - 3 - 15
