NO. 15 MICHIGAN DEFEATS NO. 16 UC SAN DIEGO

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - No. 15 Michigan defeated No. 16 UC San Diego 11-10 in overtime Sunday at the UC Irvine Women's Water Polo Invitational at Corona del Mar High School.

Michigan took a 4-3 lead following the first period, though UCSD tied the match heading into the fourth period with both teams scoring twice in the final five and a half minutes of regulation to send it into overtime. Leah Robertson scored the winning goal for Michigan with 51 seconds left in the second overtime period.

Michigan will play Cal State Northridge in the 13th place match at 4:00 p.m. and UC San Diego will play UC Santa Barbara at 5:15 in the 15th place match at Corona del Mar High School.
